A message from our 2026 event chairs

Dear friends and supporters,

We are honored to invite you to a very special celebration.

Over the years, the Legends of Science and Surfing — previously known as the Luau and Legends of Surfing Invitational — has raised more than $14 million for cancer research within Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health. What began as a heartfelt gathering of surfers and supporters has become a powerful force for progress.

And now, we pause to celebrate how far we’ve come.

Cancer has touched nearly every family. It is a relentless adversary — but so are we. Together, we are quite literally surfing for the cure.

As the 2026 cochairs, we are proud to stand with a community committed to making the world a safer, stronger place for the ones we love.

On March 30, 2026, at 7 p.m., we will gather to honor the progress we’ve achieved together and the remarkable individuals who have helped carry this mission forward.

That evening, both our legends of science and our legends of surfing will be recognized for their extraordinary contributions. We will also be treated to a special musical performance by three-time World Surfing Champion Tom Curren, along with some very special guests.

This celebration marks the official kickoff of the 33rd Annual Legends of Science and Surfing.

It is more than a party. It is a statement of resilience, gratitude and determination.

We hope you will join us as we celebrate our victories and recommit ourselves to the fight until this war against cancer is won.

With appreciation and resolve,
